Day 2
Today was a bit of earlier morning but not as early as yesterday, today we woke up at 5:00 and started to get ready for our day. We left the camp around 6:45 to Surrey near Vancouver and we volunteered at 2 ministries called SUM place and Nightshift. I was one of the 6 kids who went to nightshift ministry and we cleaned windows, organised toiletries and loaded a truck with clothing that’s going to be donated. I had a first hand experience on seeing homeless people today because when we were washing windows there was some homeless people hanging around our area. For me it was very heartbreaking and sad because of their drug addictions I saw people inserting needles in their arms and for me that made me super sad and made me feel a lot of different emotions. After we left the ministries around 1:00 we went on a hike and went a bridge Vancouver is very green and rainy so today was a beautiful hike and beautiful weather compared to Alberta (hehe) after our hike we had a 2 hour bus ride and stopped at a nearby town to stop for supper I went to a place called boardwalk and got really good fries, burgers and shakes. When we got back we spent some time in the cabin and I got to call my parents (I miss them) so far this trip has been such an amazing and exhausting trip I’m so excited for what God has in store for us in this trip and I’m excited to get to know my classmates and cabin mates more. -Rayna :)
